Basketball Progress

The girl's and boy's basketball teams have made huge progress since the beginning of try-outs. An interview with Mr.Baldwin (coach of the boys) gives description on our progress. Mr.Baldwin says, "I think the girls team is improving. Seeing improvement is what any coach wishes to see." And for the guys, "Working on fundamentals is key. The boys are getting great at defense, rebounds, stealing the ball and working up and down the floor." Mr.B also contributed what he thought both teams need to work on. "I would like to see improvement in dribbling, shooting, and responsibility,". Good luck teams!

Girls First Basketball Game!

The Great Brook girls basketball team finally had their first game! On Tuesday the team went up against Jaffrey Rindge Middle School. Even though we lost, we put forth as much effort as possible and played aggressively. Hannah Reinfrank was the only girl from GBS that made a basket. Better luck nice time girls! Their next game will be today, (12/9/2010) against Monadnock!

When Dominique and I interviewed Mr. Ketchum about his feelings on his new team, here's what he said:

Dominique and I interview with Mr. K

By:Lilly

US: How do you think tryouts for the girls went?

Mr. K: I thought they went really good. Everyone tried and that's all I asked.

US: What do you think the girls need to work on?

Mr. K: The fundamentals.

US: Such as...?

Mr. K: Shooting, dribbling, and passing. Working as a team.

US: How do you think the girls are going to do this year?

Mr. K: We're a very young and unexperienced team, but I think we're going to do pretty good.

US: How do you feel about the fact that there is only one returning player?

Mr. K: (shrugs) It is what it is.

US: How do you feel about coaching girls this year?

Mr. K: Coaching girls and coaching guys is completely different. You need a completely different approach on the girls then the guys.

US: On a scale of 1-10, how good do you think the girls are doing so far?

Mr. K: I like our attitude. I think we're going to do very well, so probably an 8.
